Club Uris
From CUWiki
Club Uris is the nickname for Uris Library, one of the 20 libraries in Cornell's library system. Uris, the historic structure attached to Cornell's famous McGraw Tower, is an expansive library housing thousands of books, including the personal collection of Cornell's first president Andrew Dickson White.
The nickname, however, is widely attributed to two facts. First, like a club, Uris Library is open late (24 hours, actually). Second, it is well-known as a de facto social hub - a good place to bring your books when you're not actually planning on getting much done.
There is one particular spot in the library that is more social than the others and, because it is open 24 hours a day, has earned the nickname "the dance floor". Late night study sessions are often conducted here, often to the backbeat of an impromptu DJ livening up the mood. An exclusive Facebook group documents frequent visitors to the dance floor.
