WikiCandidate
From CUWiki
WikiCandidate (link to site) is an online community started as a research project by Cornell graduate students. It is the campaign website of a fictional presidential candidate. All of the contenton it is entirely constructed and editable by users. That means the issue statements, the new, even the biography, of the candidate are all the collaborative creations of visitors to the site.
Real-world candidates often let us down by saying or doing things we wish they hadn't. Even when you like them, they may take an irritating stance on the one issue you care about. Nobody's perfect in real life. But free of practical constraints, is it possible for there to be a "perfect" candidate? If the same people who are so often dissatisfied with their choice of candidates were suddenly able to create the ideal candidate, what would s/he look like? Would a site that made these things possible also allow users to discuss and debate political issues in creative ways?
These are the questions the researchers had in mind in creating the site and they hope that these same questions will inspire users of the site to turn the webpage into a vibrant community, a fun toy, and even a political statement. Who WikiCandidate is, after all, is entirely up to the users who invent the campaign.
The researchers and developers involved with WikiCandidate invite you to come and improve the candidate and the site. Click the link above and help 'em out!
