Second Life is a popular online virtual world created by Linden Lab. Second Life allows users to create avatars and explore the world in different ways. Second Life is being used as an educational tool in many universities. Cornell is now developing ways to use Second Life for educational purposes.

[edit] Classes That Use Second Life

There are a couple classes that are currently using Second Life. For example CS213 held office hours on Second Life during Fall 2007. There is also the class Business and Oversight in 'Second Life' taught by Robert Bloomfield offered to graduate students who can use Second Life in order to analyze business and policy issues in the virtual world which might be applied to the real world.

[edit] Access to Cornell's Island

Cornell's island in second life is accessible to members of the Cornell community after they request entry. CIT for now is only allowing access to people who are taking part in researching Second Life or to people who might need access for a class.
