Alert: Try to Avoid

New users may fall into one of the following two pitfalls of CUWiki editing:

  • Direct copying of Wikipedia articles into CUWiki will generate the following message:
This article or section was originally created on Wikipedia.
Although the subject is relevant to Cornell and CUWiki, new content should be created to supplement
or further explain the Wikipedia content in lieu of simple copying.

Please access the Wikipedia page here.
  • Copying in external website content will generate the following if the article is composed primarily of external website content.
This article or section was originally created on an external website.
Although the subject is relevant to Cornell and CUWiki, new content should be created to supplement
or further explain external content in lieu of simple copying.

Please remember that CUWiki content is released under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2
and substantial amounts of copied text - even with source - does not fall under Fair Use.
  • Don't worry too much about violating rules, an admin will let you know if something doesn't work.
