Duffield Hall is named after David Duffield '62 (founder, former chairman and CEO of PeopleSoft). Students see Duffield Hall as one of the main buildings of the Engineering Quad and use it as a central place to meet up, study, hang out, and throw paper airplanes (a MAE class's final project). It contains a small a-la-carte cafe that makes sandwiches as well as muffins and desserts in addition to the standard Cornell dining food (salad and sushi from Freshtake). With its convenient location near Collegetown, its 24 hour operation, and the connection between caffeine and junk food and 24-hour computer labs in Phillips and Upson, Duffield Hall is one of the more popular places for students of both engineering and non-engineering majors alike to pull all-nighters.
