Dragon Day
From CUWiki
Dragon Day is a Cornell University tradition. It occurs the Friday before spring break. Architecture students build a dragon and Engineering students (are supposed to) build a phoenix in response. The dragon parades around campus and then burnt under the watchful eyes of the Cornell police and Ithaca Fire Department on the Arts Quad. Using their heavy workload as an excuse, there has not been a phoenix in recent years. There was a decent attempt at 2006 to create one, but it was generally described as disappointing compared to the architect's dragon due to lack of manpower and funding.
