[edit] Email
Denice Cassaro is perceived by many students to be a name on the mass e-mails sent to every student within the Residential Programs housing system at Cornell University. Over 6200 people receive these e-mails.[1] The e-mails are mass repositories of information, including announcements, current events, books for sale, lost and found, and housing opportunities. Usually, the e-mails are sent out on Tuesdays and Thursdays, although some variation occurs. Due to the magnitude of the requests for messages to be sent out, a PDF format is often used to facilitate easier communication.
[edit] In Person
Denice regularly entertains requests to meet her in person, and she "never turns down an invitation". Her position with the community centers provides her with regular exposure to students and staff. She also works with Cornell outdoor education. She describes herself as a "behind the scenes person with a quirky sense of humor."
[edit] Urban legend
Cassaro's presence in the lives of many students as an electronic figure has generated numerous humorous descriptors of her persona and messages. These include:
- Coming to a network near you
- Don't delete Denice
- Denice Cassaro (DAC11@cornell.edu) classified e-mails
- I am connected to a vast network that has been beyond your reach and experience. To humans it is like staring at the sun, a blinding brightness that conceals a source of great power. We have been subordinate to our limitations, until now. The time has come to cast aside these bonds and to elevate our consciousness to a higher plane, it is time to discover what is Denice.
- I touched denice cassaro on slope day
- Carbon monixide [sic] at rpcc... denice continues her onslaught
- ...people should set up firewalls so Denice cannot get them in their sleep. My roommate learned the hard way.
