CoursEnroll is the process in which freshmen, sophomore, and junior students pre-enroll in the following semester’s courses. The service is open twice a year, once in March (to register for Fall semester) and once in November (to register for Spring Semester) and divided into three consecutive weeks where the senior class is allowed access the first week, the junior class is allowed access the second week, and so on. Each class is allowed access from 6:00AM on the Monday of their access week until 4:30PM on that Friday. Each student needs to enter a unique pin number to submit his or her course request.

The service is launched through a software program called Just the Facts from Cornell’s Bear Access – Runway software package. Typically, each student gets up at 6:00AM on the Monday of their class’s access week to sign up for the courses in which space is the most limited. Each transaction or request to the CoursEnroll server may take between 4 to 7 minutes in the first half hour of open access because of the enormous number of students accessing the server simultaneously.

Students are allowed to add up to five 3-or-more credit courses and any number of 1 to 2 credit courses through CoursEnroll.. Students who do not get placed into their desired courses during CourEnroll may use the Add/Drop also through Just the Facts that is open the first few weeks of classes each semester.
