CUID Card
From CUWiki
The Cornell ID card is a credit card sized plastic card incorporating a magnetic strip, RFID tag, and photograph. The card is additionally printed with an ID number, name, and status information. Students, faculty, staff, and temporary staff all receive ID cards upon initiation of a relationship with the university. As with many ID cards, the CUID remains property of Cornell University and it may be asked for at any time.
[edit] Usage
The usage of the Cornell ID card's features is becoming more common around campus. Aside from offering a visual association of photograph, name, and status at the university, the card's magnetic strip or RFID tag are used around campus as door access cards. Recently, the card was enabled for use on the local TCAT bus system. The card allows access to Big Red Bucks and can serve to access Cornell's internal credit card system termed CornellCard.
[edit] Specifications
The CUID is created by AccessID, Inc, which is a division of HID global. Reviewing the upper right hand corner of the back side of the card yields an access ID logo. The card is a CR80 size with an HID proximity RFID and hologram. If the card is a stock card instead of a custom design, the specifications of the card correspond most closely to model ID-20A or IDM-20A in the AccessID product catalog.
