The Academic Computing Center at the Engineering Library (ACCEL) is a computing facility located in Carpenter Hall.

[edit] Computer classrooms
ACCEL comprises 3 classrooms in the second floor and another one in the first floor of Carpenter Hall. Three classrooms contain 20 computers and 1 classroom has 13 computers with dual screens. Members of the Cornell community are able to request reservations for any of these classrooms.

The computers at ACCEL host a variety of software that are of use to many engineers, like Matlab. Each computer is able to run either Windows XP, or Linux. A list of available software can be found here. There will also soon be a 24 inch apple iMac which will serve as a media creation station.
[edit] Lending
ACCEL lends Cornell students a variety of hardware. Some of the items available for lending are IBM and apple laptops, digital cameras, MinidDV camcorders, LCD projectors, and webcams. Loans usually last 24 hours unless ACCEL is not opened 24hrs from the time item is lent out. Late fees are 4 cents per minute per part.

ACCEL offers current Cornell students jobs. ACCEL employs students with knowledge or interests in TCP/IP networking, Linux/Windows server administration, computer programming, and other technical areas. Students with excellent customer service and communication skills are encouraged to apply. The job application can be found here.
